Facebook Highlights Exponential Social Sharing Increase

This morning, during a highly anticipated event the company billed as "Awesome", Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said the company is moving beyond counting the number of active users as their main metric for tracking, but instead, they are paying more attention to the number of items shared per user and the number of places users can share on the site. Zuckerberg said the 750 million-plus users are sharing more than four billion items per day, and that this rate is increasing exponentially.

At my6sense, we've seen this trend and predict that it will only increase. Zuckerberg and his team believe that content share from our social connections will continue to increase, especially on mobile devices. We of course agree. The challenge becomes sifting through this firehose of information and finding the most important content for you as an individual, so you don't miss the best stuff, and increases the need for tools like my6sense.

my6sense does more than find out who your friends are and who you interact with most. Unlike Facebook's news feed and other prioritization engines, we dive deep into the context and content of the message, including the headline, the content deep within the link, the time of posting, the recency of posting, and combinations of all these factors. We strongly believe the world, inundated with more sharing per person and in more places, needs to find smarter tools to make sure you don't miss anything.

Facebook, of course, is a supported network in my6sense on both Android and iPhone. Your friends are sharing more. Go see how we take on the load.
